Internet Explorer 7? No! I want them all!
Published by Mic
Internet Explorer 7 has made a big step forward compared to his predecessor, with regard to security and standards support (think only the transparency of PNG and CSS, although, unfortunately, not entirely).
The golden rule of any good web developer is to test the site with various browsers in order to verify the different behavior, because not the standards are not so standard indeed (!!).
The days before the Internet Explorer 7 (IE from now) the problem was only “Internet Explorer or Internet Explorer?“, but now, we must assume that not all Windows users have updated their own version of the browser.
So, in the category “Internet Explorer“, now you should test your site with at least versions 6 and 7.
In a standard installation of Windows is not possible to have two versions of IE, but from the Tredosoft site you can download an installer that resolve this problem.
Thanks to their work, it is even possible, for you nostalgic geeks, to install all versions of IE up from 3.0, as shown in the image above.
Just follow the link to gather all the information about this system: http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE.
The old versions of IE are installed in standalone mode, in an user choosen folder.
It’s possible to use this system only from Windows 2000 onwards.
There were no compatibility problems with the IE 7 installed on my computer.
